Description

White Chocolate Brigadeiros are a delightful Brazilian treat made with sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate. These bite-sized sweets are creamy, rich, and coated in white chocolate shavings or coconut, making them perfect for parties or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Brigadeiro Mixture

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 8 oz white chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Coating

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or desiccated coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix the sweetened condensed milk, chopped white chocolate, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt over low heat.
  2. Cook Mixture: Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula to prevent burning. Continue cooking the mixture over low to medium heat until it thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 15-20 minutes. This consistency is similar to thick fudge and indicates it’s ready.
  3. Cool the Mixture: Remove the mixture from heat and transfer to a greased dish. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 30 minutes to firm up and make handling easier.
  4. Shape Brigadeiros: Once chilled, grease your hands with butter and scoop small portions of the mixture, rolling them between your palms to form bite-sized balls.
  5. Coat the Brigadeiros: Roll each ball in white chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or desiccated coconut until fully coated.
  6. Serve or Store: Place the coated brigadeiros in paper cups or on a serving plate. They can be served immediately or kept refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use good-quality white chocolate with high cocoa butter content.
  • You can vary the coatings by using crushed nuts or colored sprinkles for different occasions.
  • If the mixture is too soft to roll, chill longer in the refrigerator.
  • Use a buttered spoon or cookie scoop to portion the mixture for uniform brigadeiros.
