Garlic Bread Ingredients
- 1 (12-oz) baguette, sliced lengthwise
- 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp crushed red chile flakes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed into a paste
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- â…“ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh chives
Instructions
- Preheat the Broiler: Set your oven broiler on HIGH to get it ready for toasting the bread.
- Prepare the Bread: Slice the baguette lengthwise and place the two halves cut side up on a foil-lined baking sheet for easy cleanup.
- Make the Garlic Butter Spread: In a bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, olive oil, crushed red chile flakes, dried oregano, smashed garlic paste, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are thoroughly blended.
- Spread and Season: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the baguette halves, then sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese generously on top.
- Broil the Bread: Place the baking sheet under the hot broiler and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the bread is golden and slightly crisp. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven, sprinkle with finely chopped fresh chives, then cut into 2-inch slices. Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Keep a close eye while broiling as garlic bread can burn quickly under high heat.
- For a more intense garlic flavor, let the garlic paste sit in the butter mixture for 15 minutes before spreading.
- You can substitute fresh oregano for dried if available, adjusting quantity to taste.
- To make it spicier, increase the crushed red chile flakes.
- Parmesan cheese adds a nice salty and savory touch; feel free to add more if desired.
