Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Filling
- 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, finely diced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
Wonton Shells
- 12 wonton wrappers
- Nonstick cooking spray
Slaw and Garnishes
- 1 cup coleslaw mix
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Wonton Shells: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the back of an inverted muffin tin with cooking spray. Drape wonton wrappers over each cup to form taco shell shapes. Bake for 7–9 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Remove and let cool to hold their shape.
- Cook Chicken Mixture: While the shells bake, heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the diced chicken, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is fully cooked and caramelized slightly, about 5–7 minutes.
- Prepare Slaw: In a small bowl, combine coleslaw mix with rice vinegar, sweet chili sauce, honey, and season with salt and pepper. Toss well to coat the slaw evenly with the dressing.
- Assemble Tacos: Fill each baked wonton shell with the warm chicken mixture. Top with a generous spoonful of the dressed slaw. Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro for added freshness and color. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Notes
- You can prepare the wonton shells and chicken filling ahead of time, then assemble just before serving to save time.
- For added crunch and texture, sprinkle chopped peanuts or crispy fried onions on top of each taco before serving.
